Reciting a few verses of Surat al-Baqara in the twentieth rak‘a of tarawih
Question
In the tarawih prayer the khatm of the Qur’an is done as follows: the nineteenth rak‘a ends precisely with Surat al-Nas, and in the twentieth rak‘a a few verses of Surat al-Baqara are recited. Outwardly this goes against the hadith in which reciting the Qur’an in order is mentioned; but in another hadith there is also [the instruction] that, having finished the recitation, one should begin again. Apparently the first narration concerns the prayer and the second concerns [recitation] outside the prayer.
Answer
The prevailing form is found in the books of fiqh. And of the forms you have written, the one in which [the Qur’an] is finished in the eighteenth [rak‘a] and a few verses of Surat al-Baqara are recited in the nineteenth is also correct.
