Praying two rak‘as before the fard of Zuhr is not sufficient

Question

Before the fard of Zuhr there are four [rak‘as of] sunna. May two also be prayed?

Answer

Before the fard of Zuhr there are not two but four [rak‘as of] emphasized sunna, because it is narrated from ‘A’isha ﵂: [ar]لما روي عن عائشة ﵂ أنها قالت: كان النبي ﷺ يصلي قبل الظهر أربعًا، وبعده ركعتين، وبعد المغرب ثنتين، وبعد العشاء ركعتين، وقبل الفجر ركعتين.
