Tahiyyat al-masjid after the sunna of Fajr
Question
My belief is that after the whiteness of dawn appears — from the time when eating and drinking are stopped for one who fasts — only the two rak‘as of sunna are to be prayed, and apart from them no nafl is permissible until ishraq. Having prayed the sunna of Fajr at home, may one pray two rak‘as of tahiyyat al-masjid (greeting the mosque) on entering the mosque or not?
Answer
When, at the time of Fajr, the sunna has been prayed at home, one should not pray tahiyyat al-masjid on coming to the mosque; the fard that will be prayed will itself discharge tahiyyat al-masjid.
