Praying the nafl after witr seated
Question
Should the nafl prayer after witr be prayed seated or standing, and which is better (awla)? When praying a nafl prayer seated without an excuse, how should ruku' be performed: is it necessary to bring the head and the buttocks level, as is necessary and obligatory when praying standing?
Answer
Both ways are permissible — standing as well as seated — but praying standing earns the full reward, while praying seated earns half of it; therefore praying standing is afdal (better).
