Altering “غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ”
Question
If, in Surah al-Fatiha, the imam by mistake recites “ضَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ” instead of “غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ”, that is, he recites (ض) instead of (غ), and this imam is in the habit of reciting ghayn as dad in Surah al-Fatiha, is the prayer valid or not? In other places he recites ghayn as ghayn.
Answer
Doing this deliberately is by no means permitted; it would make the prayer fasid (invalid). However, it is hoped that the listeners merely take it to be dad, while he himself is probably reciting it as ghayn; otherwise no Muslim would dare to deliberately recite dad when ghayn is present in the Noble Qur'an.
