Waking people for the Fajr prayer
Question
I have decided to wake people every day at three o’clock in the morning, so that they get up for prayer and set about their work. I do this work solely for the sake of Allah. If people help me out of the fitra (sadaqat al-fitr), is it permissible for me to take it or not? And some people say: “Your rounds spoil our sleep.” Should I then give up the rounds because of what they say? Is this right or not?
Answer
Those people who say, “Wake us at such-and-such a time” — it is right to wake them at that time; it is also right to wake people for prayer. But adopting a way of waking by which people’s sleep is spoiled at an untimely hour is not right.
