A bell can in no way take the place of the adhan
Question
If in some village the mosque is at one edge and the adhan does not reach the whole village, and the worshippers miss the congregation, is it right or not to ring a bell to inform [them] after the adhan has been given? If it is right, then how — please write in full detail, because some people say that ringing a bell is not permissible, since our religion has appointed the adhan for informing. So kindly give the correct answer; it will be a great favour.
Answer
There is no permission in any way to abandon the adhan and ring a bell in its place. Nor should a bell be rung after the adhan either — especially since nowadays people customarily have watches as well. Everyone should keep his attention on the prayer and should not be careless.
