Turning the face during the iqama

Question

Is turning the face to both sides in the iqama at “hayya ‘ala-s-salah” and “hayya ‘ala-l-falah”, as in the adhan, a sunna al-zawa’id (an incidental sunna) or an emphasized sunna? Why is it not customary in Deoband?

Answer

Turning the face during the iqama at the two “hayya ‘ala…” phrases (the hay‘alatayn) is not an emphasized sunna; therefore it is not observed here.
