Wronging the mu’adhdhin
Question
If some mu’adhdhin, after the appointed time [for the adhan] has passed and the prayer time has drawn near, calls the adhan without wudu’, and when questioned replies: “Today’s such-and-such adhan I called without wudu’ because time was short, though it is not my habit to call it without wudu’; rather, I call the adhan only after making wudu’,” — and in response to this the managers of the mosque, speaking harshly and roughly, seize the mu’adhdhin by the collar and lay hands on him, is this act of theirs…
Answer
This is an injustice and oppression (zulm) against the mu’adhdhin. He should be asked for forgiveness and his goodwill should be won; otherwise the burden [of it] will remain upon [the wrongdoer] in the Hereafter, and there is also a danger of retribution in this world.
