Dogs howling on hearing the adhan

Question

Near here there is a settlement, the village of Sapnawat, and there is a mosque there. A certain man has been calling the adhan there for a long time. For about fifteen or twenty days now, whenever the adhan is called, the village dogs howl and the jackals cry out as well. Because of this the worshippers are very disturbed and take it as a sign of something wrong, and they wish to ask you whether there is anything objectionable in it from the standpoint of the Shari‘a.

Answer

Upon hearing the adhan, a dog in front of our madrasa always howls and barks, and this happens in other places too; it is nothing to be troubled about. The adhan makes Shaytan flee. Sometimes certain animals also see him, and, frightened by this, they howl and make noise.
