Reciting ṣalāh (ṣalawāt) before the adhān
Question
In our area, before every adhān people recite ṣalāh upon the Prophet ﷺ saying “Yā Rasūl Allāh.” Is this established from ḥadīth or not?
Answer
Reciting ṣalāh before the adhān is not established and is contrary to the Sunnah. However, reciting ṣalāh after the adhān and then making du‘ā’ is established in authentic ḥadīths. All actions should conform to the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.
