The Question of Intercession (Shafa‘a)
Question
Question: The respected mawlana, B.A., munshi-fadil (a higher degree in Persian), says that no one will grant intercession. Does the Holy Qur’an not say: [ar]عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا[/ar] “It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praiseworthy station” (Surah al-Isra’, 17:79)? This does not establish that the Noble Messenger ﷺ will grant intercession.
Answer
That the Prophet ﷺ will grant intercession (shafa‘a) is the doctrine of Ahl al-Haqq, and it is explicitly established by well-known hadiths: [ar]وَالشَّفَاعَةُ ثَابِتَةٌ لِلرُّسُلِ وَالْأَخْيَارِ فِي حَقِّ أَهْلِ الْكَبَائِرِ بِالْمُسْتَفِيضِ مِنَ الْأَخْبَارِ (إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ)
