Gathering for the Remembrance [of Allah]
Question
Question: I have heard that in a hadith found in “Kitab al-Salat” of “al-Targhib wa-l-Tarhib” it is stated that on the Day of Resurrection a group [of people] will be seated on pulpits of light. The prophets and messengers will envy this group (in the praiseworthy sense). This group will have no kinship among themselves at all — rather, all of them will be strangers to one another, but they will travel from afar and gather solely for the remembrance and mention of Allah. To what extent is this correct?
Answer
This narration from “al-Targhib wa-l-Tarhib” has not come to my attention. However, it is established that those who come to the mosque from afar on a dark night to pray in congregation are promised pulpits of light.
