Remaining in Dhikr From Fajr Until Ishraq
Question
Question: After the obligatory (fard) prayer of Fajr, some people remain seated at the place of prayer (musalla). After sunrise, they pray two or four rak‘ahs with the intention of Ishraq, and say that this earns the reward of Hajj and ‘Umra. What is the basis of this narration? It is established regarding the Prophet ﷺ that he remained seated at the place of prayer after the fard, but no proof is found that he prayed two rak‘ahs [afterward]. Please give a full investigation of the issue.
