Keeping a Sick Divorced Wife at Home and Marrying Her Sister

Question

Zayd divorced his wife (gave talaq) because of her poor health. After the ‘idda had passed, he married the divorced wife’s full sister. The divorced wife is very ill, and her parents, because of poverty, are unable to provide her maintenance (nafaqa). Therefore, would it be permissible for Zayd to keep this divorced wife staying in his house as well, or not?

Answer

For the sake of sympathy for her and helping her, it is permissible, but hijab must be fully maintained, they must not appear before each other, and also no seclusion must be allowed to occur.
