Marriage of the Husband’s Son to His New Wife’s Daughter

Question

Hinda died. She left a son. The boy’s father married a second time, and a girl came along with the incoming woman. Is the marriage of Hinda’s son to this girl valid or not?

Answer

If the wife’s daughter is from her first husband and the husband’s son is from his first wife, then the marriage between the two of them is valid according to the Shari‘a: they have not become brother and sister to each other.
