Postponing the Eid prayer
Question
On the 29th of Dhu al-Qa'da, because of clouds, the general public did not see the new moon of Eid al-Adha; a few trustworthy people saw the new moon of Eid al-Adha amid the clouds. On the 9th of Dhu al-Hijja, when [the sighting] was properly established for the imam of the Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer) through trustworthy testimony, he announced the prayer for Monday, the 10th of Dhu al-Hijja.
Answer
Once the sighting of the moon (ru'ya) has been established, delaying the Eid al-Adha prayer by one day without an excuse is makruh. The Eid prayer is not binding upon the people of the villages, and consideration for them is not a Shari'a excuse. If the sighting is not established at all, or there is a Shari'a excuse, then delaying on that account is not makruh.
