Leaving the Eid prayer when life is in danger

Question

There is also the fear that the government, in the name of administration, supervision and protection, will post armed police, the military and so on at the neighbourhood mosques as well. Muslims feel threatened by this action of the government too. May the Eid al-Adha prayer, which is wajib, be left [in such a case]?

Answer

If there is a danger of losing one's life, the Eid prayer should not be performed: protecting life takes precedence.
