The Eid Prayer for One Who Does Not Offer the Sacrifice
Question
Zayd had fifty-two and a half tolas (a unit of weight, ≈ 11.66 g) of silver, but when the time of the sacrifice came he had no cash, nor was there any goat at home; for this reason he did not offer the sacrifice. In this situation, may Zayd go to the Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer) to pray or not?
Answer
The ruling on the Eid prayer is independent, and the ruling on the sacrifice is independent. If a person, despite having the means, does not offer the sacrifice, the wajib remains upon him and he has become sinful by leaving it; giving its value in sadaqa will be wajib. But this does not remove the Eid prayer from him, nor will he be prevented from going to the Eidgah.
