Time of the Eid Prayer

Question

If on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha heavy rain begins in the morning and continues until 2 p.m., and no shelter or tent can be arranged, and the mosque has no protection from the rain, can the Eid prayer be performed after 2 p.m.? If it cannot be performed, what should be done? There is no building where the worshippers can gather.

Answer

1. After the zenith of the sun (zawal) the Eid prayer is not valid. In a case of necessity: the prayer of Eid al-Fitr may be performed the next day; the prayer of Eid al-Adha may be performed the next day, and if it still cannot be performed, on the third day.
