An Outsider May Also Lead the Eid Prayer
Question
In blessed Ramadan a hafiz was invited from Bhopal for the tarawih prayer. He recited the Qur’an until the 26th of Ramadan. The members and office-bearers of the Anjuman-e Islamiya kept him back to lead the Eid prayer, since the management of the Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer) is the responsibility of the society itself. But some people objected that an outsider cannot lead the Eid prayer.
Answer
Even if an outsider leads the Eid prayer, it will be valid. Holding a separate second congregation because of this is not right, especially at the same Eidgah — this is disapproved. Nevertheless, everyone’s prayer was valid; do not do so in future.
