Reviling the Translators of Religious Books

Question

Some people abuse and revile those scholars who have translated into Urdu and commented on the books of fiqh, hadith and tafsir, and say, “We do not accept these Urdu books; had they been in Arabic we would certainly have accepted them.” What is the ruling on such a person?

Answer

To revile and abuse the scholars of truth merely because they served religion and translated Arabic books into Urdu is a major sin and extremely dangerous. Rulings that are true — whether in Urdu, Arabic or any other language — must be accepted. Such a person must repent.
