Taking remuneration for preaching and amulets

Question

Question: What is the ruling on taking and giving money for giving an amulet or delivering a sermon?

Answer

If a person takes up employment for preaching and a salary is fixed, then taking the salary is proper. If he knows the craft of amulets and writes nothing contrary to the Shari‘a in it, then taking money as payment for it is also proper. Both of these rulings are mentioned in the fifth volume of Radd al-Muhtar.
