Amulets and a wage for them

Question: Is it permissible to write an amulet and give it to someone, and is it also permissible to take a wage for it or not?

Answer

Writing and giving an amulet is permissible, provided that it contains no content contrary to the Shari‘a; and taking a wage for it is also permissible: [ar]ولا بأس بالمعاذات إذا كتب فيها القرآن أو أسماء الله تعالى، وإنما تكره العوذة إذا كانت بغير لسان العرب ولا يدرى ما هو، ولعله يدخله سحر أو كفر أو غير ذلك، وأما ما كان من القرآن أو شيء من الدعوات فلا بأس به.
