Disabling a bodily organ to prevent immoral conduct
Question
A girl from a respectable family has become wayward and grossly immoral. However much she is restrained, no measure works. In such a case, is it permissible or not to make some part of the said girl’s body numb and immobile by means of some medicine or some practice (‘amal)?
Answer
The question is very brief, and its meaning cannot be clearly made out from it. If what is intended is that some organ be disabled or cut off so that her immoral conduct stops, then doing so is not permissible in the Shari‘a. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not permit castration: [ar]وَأَمَّا خِصَاءُ الْآدَمِيِّ فَحَرَامٌ[/ar] “As for castrating a human being, it is haram.
