Standing at the Munja’ Is a Distinctive Mark of the Rafidis
Question
Likewise, clinging to the wall of the Ka‘ba (iltizam) at the place called Munja’ (منجاء), which is at the back of the Ka‘ba, to the left of al-Rukn al-Yamani, over a length of four cubits, is also makruh, although doing so has become a distinctive mark (shi‘ar) of the Rafidis: they stand at this place for supplication (du‘a). In any case it is permissible, and most people are unaware that this is a distinctive mark of the Rafidis. So may we Hanafis perform iltizam at this place without it being disliked (karaha)?
Answer
A matter which is in itself mandub (recommended) but has become a distinctive mark of the Rafidis should also be avoided.
