Embracing and Kissing the Hands of One Returning from Hajj
Question
Here, when people return after performing Hajj, everyone, men and women alike, embraces them and kisses their hands and shoulders. Is this permissible and proper?
Answer
Kissing the hands, with the intention of honouring and out of love for someone because he is coming from Noble Makkah, is proper; embracing (mu‘anaqa) is also permitted. However, it is not proper for a woman to do this with a non-mahram.
