Having One’s Wife Perform Hajj Badal before Her Own Hajj
Question
I have already performed Hajj once together with my late wife. Now I intend to perform Hajj again together with my present wife, but I intend to take my wife for Hajj badal (proxy Hajj), and she has not yet performed Hajj. I have transferred to her name, for her maintenance, shares worth five thousand rupees; the income (dividend) that comes from the shares worth five thousand rupees she will use. Besides this, at the time of the marriage (nikah)
Answer
If your present wife owns enough wealth to suffice for the Hajj journey until the return, then Hajj is fard upon her. And since the husband is also available to accompany her on the Hajj journey, she should perform her fard Hajj very soon. She should not go for Hajj badal at this time, for God knows whether the company of a mahram or husband will be available later or not.
