Having Hajj Badal Performed for a Sick Person
Question
Hajj was obligatory (wajib) upon a person, and he was even ready for Hajj, but before performing Hajj he fell victim to a severe illness, such that the physicians stated that it would be difficult for him to recover before four to six months. May this person send someone on his behalf for Hajj badal (proxy Hajj)?
Answer
For now he should not send anyone for Hajj badal; rather, he should get treatment. If he recovers, he should perform Hajj himself; otherwise, at the very end, when he despairs of going himself, he should then leave a bequest for Hajj badal.
