Is It Necessary to Mention the Name in Hajj Badal?
Question
In Hajj badal, when reciting the "Labbayk" (talbiya), is it necessary to include in the "Labbayk" the name of the person on whose behalf the Hajj badal is performed as well? If it is necessary, what form will it take? Write in full detail at which place in the talbiya the name should be mentioned, and write out the complete talbiya and send it, so that the Hajj badal becomes valid. Generally people go and make the attribution (nisba) and so on just as for their own personal Hajj?
Answer
It is not at all necessary. The intention in the heart, "I am entering ihram on behalf of such-and-such a person", is sufficient. If at the time of ihram he did not make the intention of ihram on that person's behalf and began the acts of Hajj, the Hajj badal will not be valid.
