Does Tamattu‘ Remain If a Second ‘Umra Is Performed After the First?

Question

Question: A man went to Makkah the Venerated before Ramadan, performed ‘Umra, left ihram and stayed on there, and the months of Hajj began while he was there. Then in Shawwal he went to Madinah the Radiant. On returning from Madinah, the better course is to come having entered the ihram of Hajj, but there is latitude to come in the ihram of ‘Umra. Is this latitude for those in both of the cases mentioned, or is it fard?

Answer

(1) A person who has performed ‘Umra in the months of Hajj, after which he went to Madinah the Good, and who will then perform Hajj that same year and return home — according to Imam Abu Hanifa, this person is a mutamatti‘ (one performing tamattu‘).
