Sa'y for Those Performing Ifrad and Qiran, and Supplications During Tawaf
Question
(1) Should one performing ifrad (mufrid) and one performing qiran (qarin) perform sa'y in the tawaf al-qudum (tawaf of arrival) or not? (2) Which supplications during tawaf are transmitted from the Prophet ﷺ or from the Rightly Guided Caliphs? Is it permissible for the one performing tawaf to recite in his own language whatever supplication he wishes, or not?
Answer
(1) The meaning of “performing sa'y in the tawaf al-qudum” is not clear to me, since tawaf is performed in the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram), while sa'y is performed outside the mosque, between Safa and Marwa! (2) Scholars have written a great many supplications to be recited on such an occasion, and separate treatises have also been composed.
