Pushing one’s father and insulting him

Question

Zayd is a wealthy man. His father, ‘Umar, is a frail man who is very God-fearing. The son is able to serve his father but does not. The father has some arable land; the son buys the land from the father. The father, thinking, “I have two daughters; I will give both of them some money and keep some for my own living,” sold the land to the son. The son gave part of the money when the documents were drawn up and said, “I will give the rest later.

Answer

The obligatory Hajj has been discharged, but the son’s conduct is a grave sin and oppression (zulm), on account of which he deserves punishment. In the Noble Qur’an it is said: [ar]وَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا وَٱخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ ٱلذُّلِّ … الآية[/ar] “And do not say to them ‘Uff!
