Disobeying the husband for the sake of the children

Question

Is it permissible to disobey the husband in order to please the daughter and son-in-law in particular, and the other sons as well? Is Hinda’s course of conduct not one that makes the children rebellious, sinful and dissolute?

Answer

She may demand her own right under the Sacred Law, but without a right under the Sacred Law she may not disobey her husband out of regard for the children or the son-in-law; by doing so she will be sinful. In particular, giving children who spend on sin so much money that they sin more because of it is in itself a separate sin.
