How often one may visit close relatives
Question
It is written in Bihishti Zewar (“Heavenly Ornaments”) that one should go to one’s blood relatives once a year. If one goes more often than that, will there be a sin? And if these relatives come several times within this period, will there be a sin then too?
Answer
As for those who are the woman’s mahrams (those whom she may not marry), it is correct for her to go to their home to visit them once a year, and for the husband to permit her this, provided that hijab (seclusion from non-mahrams) is maintained there and there is no fitna or harm; she has no right beyond that.
