Going to the mother’s house without the husband’s permission

Question

My son ʿAbd al-Jabbar has been away for a month. His wife, without my permission, went off with her mother to (her mother’s) home, although I told her: “Get permission from your husband, then go,” but she did not desist, and her mother herself took her away. What is the ruling in this case?

Answer

She ought not to have gone without her husband’s permission; the girl made a mistake and her mother also made a mistake. It is necessary for her to return to her husband’s house and ask forgiveness. As long as she does not return, she will not be entitled to receive maintenance from her husband.
