How often relatives may be met

Question

Is it permissible in the Shariʿa for a wife to approve of, or allow, the coming into her house of a man or woman whose visits her husband dislikes, even if that man or woman is a relative and lives in that very same village?

Answer

Hinda’s mother and father may come to Hinda once a week; the husband has the right to forbid them from coming more often than that. He also has the right not to let them stay long, and to forbid them from staying with her overnight.
