Staying with one’s parents without the husband’s permission

Question

If after the nikah the husband says: “I will keep my wife with me, and she may go to her parents to see them for two or three months in the year,” while the parents say: “We are old, so she may go to her husband for two or three months in the year” — and the parents also have property, on which a living can be made — but the parents say that if the girl leaves they will not be able to keep the buffalo, because fodder and so on has to be brought for the buffalo and it has to be milked, and the parents also say that…

Answer

This demand of the parents is not correct. If the woman stays in her parents’ house in this way without her husband’s permission, she will be disobedient, and she will also not receive maintenance (nafaqa) for that period.
