Sorcery, and obtaining charm threads, amulets and the like from non-Muslims
Question
Question: What is the ruling on Muslim men and women practising sorcery and having sorcery done, and having charm threads, amulets and mantras (incantations) made by kafirs?
Answer
Practising sorcery and having it done is haram. If there is anything in it contrary to the Islamic creed, it is kufr. And one should not take mantras, charm threads, amulets and the like from Hindus, because they often contain words of shirk; venerating that and believing in it is kufr. [ar]فإن كان في ذلك (أي السحر)
