Having a non-Muslim perform incantation

Question

Question: Muslims have a Hindu recite a mantra (incantation) for them. Is it permissible for Muslims to do this or not?

Answer

One way of being treated by a non-Muslim is that he is an expert in the art of healing, such as a doctor, a practitioner of traditional medicine or an Ayurvedic practitioner, so that one merely benefits from his professional skill, just as one may have a non-Muslim lawyer conduct a court case; in this there is no harm from the standpoint of the Shari‘a.
