Having a kafir perform incantation

Question

Question: Zayd says that having a kafir perform incantation over a sick person is permissible. Bakr says it is not permissible, rather it is shirk?

Answer

If having a kafir perform incantation involves showing him honour and devotion to him, it is impermissible; otherwise it is permissible, provided that he does not use shirk in the incantation.
