Having a non-Muslim treat a snakebite with incantation
Question
Question: What is the ruling on having a kafir treat a snakebite with incantation, when these (incantations) also contain words of kufr and shirk and the names of goddesses and gods? And if some kafir utters only the name “Bhagwan” (a Hindu term for God or a deity) or “Ram” and the like, is the interpretation correct that it is a name of God, in whatever idiom and language it may be?
Answer
A ruqya (incantation) that contains words of kufr, or words whose meaning is not known, is not permissible. In his incantations the Hindu also uses mantras and the like in which help is sought from goddesses and gods, and that this is kufr is evident.
