Using palm wine in biscuits
Question
A shopkeeper sells a biscuit that is prepared by adding the dregs (sediment) of palm wine and baking it in the heat of a tandoor; people generally eat it and do not consider it in any way disliked. A person tells him that using a thing into which palm wine has been mixed is impermissible. To this the shopkeeper offers the following argument: an impure thing, such as a pig or excrement, if it falls into a salt mine and becomes salt, becomes pure; likewise, if it becomes earth, or burns and turns to ash, it is pure.
Answer

Hence Zayd’s putting it into biscuits is haram, and selling them, according to the mufta bihi position, is impermissible and makruh tahrimi; and for those who know, buying and using them is likewise impermissible,…
