Drinking the Sap of the Palmyra and Date Palm

Question

Question: What is the ruling on drinking the fresh sap of the palmyra palm or the date palm, etc., which is quite sweet and in which there is no intoxication of any kind? Some religious scholars say that drinking it is permissible, although in the noble hadith the four drinks have been declared haram. Please write a substantiated answer.

Answer

As long as this sap does not produce intoxication, it is not haram. [ar]كَذَا يُفْهَمُ مِنْ رَدِّ الْمُحْتَارِ[/ar] “This is what is understood from ‘Radd al-Muhtar’.”
