The Prohibition of Palm Wine
Question
Question: There is vinegar of palm wine, which is made by drying the palm wine — so why has palm wine been declared haram?
Answer
If there is intoxication in palm wine, it is impermissible; after it has become vinegar, no intoxication remains, therefore it is permissible. If palm sap is consumed before intoxication arises in it, it is not prohibited. Four kinds of intoxicating drinks are such that even a single drop of them is haram and najis (impure)
