Things distributed in the name of goddesses and gods
Question
Question: (1) Things distributed in the name of Hindu goddesses and gods, such as unrefined cane sugar, sugar and the like — are they halal or haram? (2) May one eat the meat of an animal that was set free in the name of goddesses and gods, or bought for goddesses and gods, after having it slaughtered by a Muslim, or not?
Answer
(1) It is haram. (2) It is by no means permissible; it takes entirely the ruling of carrion (mayta). So it is in “al-Iklil”.
