Using Dalda vegetable fat, English biscuits and the like
Question
Question: Is it permissible to eat hydrogenated vegetable fat (artificial ghee) when it is made from fat and other substances? This fat is obtained from goats, cows and the like, and some of the fat comes from Australia and elsewhere. Among my acquaintances are several people who work with fat: they melt down the fat and sell it to big companies, and those big companies supply it to Dalda (a brand of vegetable cooking fat)
Answer
As long as it has not been established that something haram, impure or carrion is included in it, eating it is permissible, and using it in other things is also permissible. However, fat should not be bought from a non-Muslim’s shop.
