The ruling on turmeric

Question

Question: Is it really not right to eat turmeric? Yet great scholars have been seen not to abstain from eating such curries in which turmeric has been put. A certain gentleman says that turmeric is boiled in dung and is therefore impure. Please state what the ruling of the Shari‘a is.

Answer

It is possible that this is done somewhere; I myself asked religious Muslims who cultivate turmeric, and they denied it. Therefore, calling it haram without verification is not right.
