Eating food to which nutmeg has been added
Question
Question: In a cauldron, meat is cooked for about a hundred people, and two or three nutmegs, weighing less than one tola (a unit of weight, ≈ 11.66 g), are put into it as a spice, from which there is absolutely no intoxication. What is the ruling on that food in such a case? For here, among the Deobandi scholars themselves, two groups have formed: some say it is haram, and others say it may be used only as a medicine.
Answer
In such a case that food is not haram, because there is no harm in it and no intoxication occurs either, although eating nutmeg itself is prohibited.
