Vowing to listen to “The Story of Hazrat Sayyida”
Question
Question: Attached to this question is also a booklet, “Janab-e Sayyida ki Kahani” (“The Story of Her Honour the Sayyida”). In some areas the gentleman who arrived with this book, “The Story of Her Honour the Sayyida”, mentioning the benefits of this book, said that if someone’s need is not being fulfilled, she should make this vow: “When this such-and-such need of mine is fulfilled, I will listen to the Story of Her Honour the Sayyida,” and by this her wish will be fulfilled.
Answer
The book “The Story of Her Honour the Sayyida” consists of baseless matters; some opponent of Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama‘a wrote it to lead Muslim men astray in general and women in particular. Making a vow to listen to it is futile (laghw), and listening to it, besides being a waste of time, implants false things in the mind.
